Erick Cárcamo is Principa land co-founder of AllBlackForm– an international practice based in Los Angeles. As a designer, Erick has been in pursuit of innovation and technology in the field of architectural thinking and teaching processes; his expertise, expanding his graduate thesis, is based on researching experimental techniques and strategic thinking for the manipulation of Form, which he uses these design abilities in the services of thoroughly understanding spatial and organizational issues central to architecture. Born in El Salvador, Erick holds a master’s Degree in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University,GSAPP and a bachelor’s Degree from The Southern California Institute of Architecture, SCI_Arc. Alongside his professional work and career, he has established a distinguished academic 11-year teaching career. Erick has taught numerous design studios and visual studies seminars at various universities, both in the USA and Europe, recently including Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Southern California Institute of Architecture, UPenn school of Design and previously has taught at Yale School of Architecture, GSAPP, IoA, Institute of Architecture at the university of applied arts, in Vienna, Lund technical University in Sweden, among others. During his active teaching career, Erick has coordinated both undergrad and graduate level studios, having the chance to teach core, as well as experimental option studios. In Addition to his universities teaching appointments, Erick has developed a Workshop teaching model, which his company conducts every summer since 2008 in multiple universities around the world. This privately-run summer program has grown into a well-established and recognized series of experimental teachings, where he applies his expertise.
